Vendors at the Port Lucaya Marketplace lamented the lack of sales even with the recently held Diplomatic Week.
One vendor said, “I even didn’t see the diplomat other than on TV.” Another vendor said, “they act as if we had a plague on us even if they weren’t buying anything I say at least come through the market, cause they had to pass the market. They pass over on the other side of the road and the even ain’ come to see just what we have.”
Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, the Hon. Chester Cooper said it must be examined why guest did not venture into the marketplace. “We must determine how we can improve the marketing, the visibility.”
The Minister also encouraged the vendors to ensure that their goods are authentically Bahamian and that there is variation.
