Director of Education, Dominique McCartney Russell recently commented on an incident where a primary school student was allegedly beaten by a reserve police officer. The incident occurred at E. P. Roberts Primary School last week.

McCartney Russell told reporters, “I’m really grateful that it was not our school resource officer. It is not a police officer. I’m told that it was a reserve officer but that matter is under investigation I can tell you that much.”

The education director went on to express gratitude for the school resource officer program. “As we indicated these officers are specially trained and so they are not there as military. They are there to provide mentorship. They’re there to provide support for our children.”
