SCB Operational Changes in Response to COVID-19

The Securities Commission of The Bahamas (the Commission) is a statutory body responsible for the regulation of the securities and capital markets as well as financial and corporate service providers. The Commission issues this notice to inform all stakeholders and the general public about operational changes it has implemented to mitigate the spread and impact of COVID-19 in our community, and to protect the health of our staff, registrants and licensees, and visitors to
our premises.

Business Hours

The Commission will continue to operate under normal business hours. Effective immediately, however, the Commission will cease hosting in-person meetings with third parties, including registrants and licensees. If you have scheduled a meeting with representatives of the Commission, you will be contacted to make alternative arrangements.

Suspension of On-Site Examinations The Commission has suspended all routine on-site examinations of registrants and licensees, effective immediately. The Commission will continue its off-site supervisory activities, however, and will commence the 2020 schedule of thematic reviews in the coming weeks. Details regarding off-site thematic reviews will be advised to registrants and licensees, and they are reminded that the Commission’s 2020 Examination Priorities have been circulated and are available on its website: http://www.scb.gov.bs
