It has been reported that Belmont Oak Christian Academy on the island of Grand Bahama is operating without paper accreditation.
Director of Education, Dominique McCartney-Russell told ZNS News if a school is not registered parents should not send their children to the school. She said, “if they are not registered they graduation will be be recognized.”
All schools should be registered with the National Accreditation and Equivalency Council of The Bahamas (NAECOB). McCartney-Russell advised parents, “as has been the case in the past we’ve advised parents to remove their children from those institutions and register them at recognized institutions.”
According to NAECOB’s website there are currently five schools in Grand Bahama not registered with NAECOB including Bahamas Leadership Academy, Excel Institute of Arts, Blaze Elite Sports Academy, Belmont Oak Christian Academy and Alpha Omega Christian School.
The education director asked any who knows of schools operating without NAECOB approval to send them a letter or visit the NAECOB website.
