R.B.D.F displays a state of readiness for hurricane

As Tropical Storm Eta churns in the straits of Florida with a chance of possible strengthening, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains committed to ensuring a state of readiness. With the activation of hurricane shelters, RBDF Hurricane Shelter Support Team members were on call to manage and secure Hurricane Shelters in New Providence.

NEMA Urges Remain Prepared — Peak Hurricane Season

September 10 is considered to be the date for the peak of the Atlantic Hurricane Season. And in this regard, the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, is urging all residents to remain prepared. Captain Stephen Russell, Director of NEMA, said that the agency and the National Disaster Consultative Committee comprising the 14 Emergency Support Function groups remain in a state of readiness should a storm threatens the country.

Hurricane Shelter Updates Announced

Officials at the National Emergency Management Agency are urging residents to stay prepared during the ongoing 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season, this time with changes made to the list of hurricane shelters available in The Bahamas. Releasing a press statement on Sunday, the precautionary notice advises residents to take note of alterations made to the official listings of hurricane shelters across the country.

NEMA urges public to prepare for 2020 Hurricane Season

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, is gearing up its mandate – which is ensuring that adequate preparedness and mitigation measures, and response and recovery mechanisms, are in place as it prepares to navigate through the upcoming 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
