Ka’Neil Hamilton and Eltavious Johnson were the fourth and fifth place winners of Junior Achievement New Providence’s (JA) ‘Most Distinguished Achiever’ award. In the 2019-2020 JA year, they both excelled in academics, sales, and overall programme participation, and subsequently shared a cheque of $5,000 sponsored by CIBC FirstCaribbean. Ka’Neil, a Queen’s College 2020 graduate intends to take a semester off before using her financial award to pursue tertiary studies at Southeastern University.
Regional bank CIBC FirstCaribbean is moving to assist countries across the region to purchase much-needed COVID–19 testing kits. The bank, through its charitable arm the FirstCaribbean International ComTrust Foundation, will donate a total of USD$250,000 toward the purchase of the kits in the countries across its regional footprint. The bank will make the donation through its various operating companies across the Caribbean, including The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands.
Prior to school closures, a fifth grade class at Stephen Dillet Primary School was equipped and better able to safeguard themselves, and their families, against the spread of COVID-19. The 28 students also received droves of much needed reading books, folders, and craft supplies. The CIBC FirstCaribbean International Wealth Management team, during a visit to the class, shared a story on coronavirus precautionary measures; supplied the classroom with coronavirus preparedness posters; and armed each student with a hygiene kit. Among the class are three transfer students from Abaco, who additionally received special donations.
CIBC FirstCaribbean wishes to advise the public that it will temporarily adjust its hours of operation at all branches. Effective Monday, March 23, 2020 the bank’s opening and closing times will be Monday to Friday 9:30am to 1:30pm, until further notice. Clients are encouraged to use CIBC FirstCaribbean’s Online Banking, Mobile App services and ATMs to do their banking in order to avoid waiting in branch where possible.
