Controlled Family Island Shutdown

Bahamas Power and Light Company Ltd. wishes to advise that, further to our Noon statement detailing controlled shutdown procedures in New Providence, the Family Islands are treated differently.

NEMA continues to monitor track of Hurricane Isaias

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, remains in high activation mode to continue to monitor Hurricane Isaias as it moves through The Bahamas.

Alert #29 on Hurricane Isaias

Hurricane warning for the central Bahamas is discontinued as islands of Exuma, Cat Island, Rum Cay, San Salvador and Long Island. The all clear is now given; however, these islands can still experience severe thunderstorms associated with the outer-bands of Hurricane Isaias throughout the day.

Alert #23 Hurricane Isaias

Isaias is moving toward the Northwest near 16 mph, and a general Northwestward motion with some decrease in forward speed is expected for the next day or so followed by a turn toward the North-Northwest.
