On 28 February 2020, the Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (‘URCA’) published a Final Determination and Order (ECS 01/2020) relating to The Bahamas Telecommunications Company Limited’s (‘BTC’) breaches of the Retail Pricing Rules for fixed service bundles, Consumer Protection Regulations, and its Individual Operating Licence (‘IOL’). BTC advertised the following changes to the public and implemented them without receiving URCA’s prior written approval
The Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA), in partnership with the Public Utilities Research Center (PURC) of the Warrington College of Business at the University of Florida, recently hosted its second in a series of Regulatory Forums for Sr. Technical Officers at the British Colonial Hilton Hotel, Nassau, The Bahamas. The Forum attracted Directors and senior technical officers from various government ministries and departments,private sector representatives, URCA licensees and academia.
Following a series of successful pop-up meetings on Grand Bahama Island in December and January, the Utilities Regulation & Competition Authority (URCA), is returning to the island this month and will also take its message of stakeholder engagement and consumer protection for all Bahamians to the island of Eleuthera.
