Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, the Hon. Chester Cooper commented on the removal of the Hilton brand from the Resorts World Bimini property on Thursday.
Cooper told ZNS News this latest development should be viewed as an opportunity. He said, “what it might mean now is that the developments would perhaps need to spend a bit more in terms of sales and marketing. In the absence of the Hilton network they would no doubt have to rely heavily on attracting repeat guests and also going directly into the market advancing the Bimini brand.”
The minister also pledged the assistance of his ministry in supporting the growth of Bimini. “The Bahamas Out Island Promotion Board focuses heavily on boutique resorts that are authentically uniquely flagged and no doubt Bimini will continue to thrive notwithstanding that these properties aren’t carrying the Hilton brand any longer. Of course there’s always the possibility that the developers could find a replacement brand,” Cooper said.
The reason for the split has not been released.
