On Thursday, December 19, five Haitian nationals were arraigned in Magistrate’s Court #1 before Chief Magistrate Algernon Allen on immigration-related offences.
The individuals were charged and convicted of overstaying. The following Haitian nationals were convicted of overstaying and sentenced as follows:
1. Nedens Valentin (M) was convicted of overstaying and fined $2,000.00 or sentenced to six (6) months at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services (BDOCS).
2. Eclesiate Donatien (M) was convicted of overstaying and fined $2,500.00 or sentenced to nine (9) months at BDOCS.
3. Daniela Paul (F) was convicted of overstaying and fined $150.00 or sentenced to thirty (30) days at BDOCS.
4. Garcia Duverny (F) was convicted of overstaying and fined $1,500.00 or sentenced to fiv (5) months at BDOCS.
5. Lovelyne Anasse (F) was convicted of overstaying and fined $500.00 orsentenced to sixty
(60) days at BDOCS.
Upon payment of all fines and/or completion of sentences, all migrants were ordered to be turned over to the Department of Immigration for deportation. The public is reminded that the Department is committed to executing its mandate to ensure compliance with the Statute Laws of the country.
