Bahamas to Compete at the 2025 Pan-American Youth Chess Festival in Peru
The Bahamas Chess Federation is proud to announce that a national team of 10 young chess players will represent The Bahamas at the XXXV Pan-American Youth Chess Festival in Lima, Peru, from July 27 to August 3, 2025. This marks the second time The Bahamas will participate in this prestigious tournament, which features top youth players from across the Americas. The event offers opportunities for players to earn FIDE titles, achieve title norms, and gain or improve their FIDE ratings.
President of the Bahamas Chess Federation, Curtis Pride Sr., stated: “We are so proud to see the positive path today’s youth are taking. Events like this empower our future leaders and show the power of focus, discipline, and determination. We invite the community to help us continue supporting these rising stars.”
The team consists of 10 talented players across various age categories:
- U8 Absolute: Liam Hepburn
- U10 Absolute: Caerwyn Turnquest
- U10 Female: A’maris McGregor
- U12 Absolute: Bharath Nair
- U12 Female: Danica Rolle
- U14 Absolute: Darsh Lalwani
- U14 Absolute: Abijith Nair
- U16 Absolute: Michael Knowles
- U16 Female: WCM Chika Pride
- U18 Absolute: Avian Pride
The team will be accompanied by Ms. Angel Pride (Delegate) and Mr. Elton Joseph (Coach).
