A bush fire in the Treasure Cay area of Abaco has been contained after burning for a week.
Family Island Administrator for North Abaco, Stephen Wilson told ZNS News local volunteers are working to secure firefighting equipment from the government. He also gave an update on efforts to contain the fire. He said, “I understand it’s under some control by voluntary firefighters. I know they’re asking for more equipment to assist them and I’ve asked them to supply us with a list so we can forward that on to the government for consideration or anybody else who’s willing to assist in that regard.”
According to Smith the fire affected pockets of the Treasure Cay area. He asked that residents use all cautionary measures in relation to the fire.
