According to the Member of Parliament for Central and South Abaco, the Hon. John Pinder efforts are underway for proper waste management for the island.
Pinder recently spoke with reporters while unveiling plans for new police headquarters in Marsh Harbour. He said, “the Spring City dumpsite, I had the opportunity to visit it a couple month back and I was pleased to realize that they are demobilizing in a really safe way. They have a smokeless burner there that inerts the gases and it gives off no smoke that they’re processing some of the materials through. I’m pushing for holistic waste management approach for all of Abaco so we can have more transfer sites going into one proper waste management facility. And being able to mitigate the exposure from the Treasure Cay debris management site which wasn’t properly run from the beginning and is a much bigger mess so to say.”
