The Bahamas joined fellow CARICOM Member States in contributing to a collective humanitarian aid effort in support of the people of Venezuela following the devastating earthquakes that struck the country on 24 June, 2026, affecting communities across Venezuela and creating an urgent need for regional support.
As part of this CARICOM-led response, the humanitarian aid shipment arrived in Venezuela on 12 July, 2026, and was officially presented to the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela at La Guaira Port. Ambassadors and officials on the ground assisted in coordinating the official handover and presentation of the supplies.
The contribution reflects The Bahamas’ continued commitment to regional solidarity, humanitarian cooperation, and the important role of international support in the wake of tragedy. As a member of the Caribbean Community, The Bahamas remains committed to standing with its regional partners and supporting affected communities in moments of need.
Melanie Hilton, Non Resident Ambassador of The Bahamas to The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela notes that guided by the Bahamas’ commitment to CARICOM and the persistence of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Minister, the Honourable Fred Mitchell, she will remain in contact with officials in Venezuela during this period of recovery.
