
The Bahamas remains at the forefront of global conversations on Climate Change and Environmental Awareness, even as it currently hosts regional leaders for a historic CARICOM Conference. The Conference of Parties will be held in November in the United Arab Emirates. The Bahamas and the UAE have already begun talks in this regard, resolved to ensure that protecting the environment and natural resources of countries like theirs remain a priority.
The Hon. Vaughn P. Miller, Minister for the Environment and Natural Resources, welcomed Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimi, United Arab Emirates at the Odyssey Airport for the 44th Regular Meeting of the Heads of Government of CARICOM being held in Nassau, The Bahamas, February 15 to 17, 2023. She was also greeted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Public Service, Hon. Fred Mitchell and Minister of State for Social Serviced and Urban Development, Hon. Lisa T. Rahming. His Excellency Tony Joudi, Ambassador, UAE and the State of Qatar was also in attendance.
While here, Minister Miller and Her Excellency Al Hashimi will hold bilateral discussions on matters of mutual interest to both countries as it relates to Climate Change and COP 28.
The 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will convene from November 30 to December 12, 2023. It will take place in the United Arab Emirates.
