The Minister of Health and Wellness accompanied a delegation including 50 eye patients to Cuba for treatment.

The Hon. Dr. Michael Darville spoke about the program before leaving the country. He said, “its been a program that we have been working very closely with the Princess Margaret Hospital, the PHA and the Ministry of Health and Wellness to ensure that many cases that are requiring cataract and retinal surgeries get the service they truly deserve.”

The trip is funded through the catastrophic health care budget. Minister Darville said the government plans to take 600 people in total from The Bahamas to Cuba for medical services.
