The Bahamas Association of the Physically Disabled received over $10,000 in donations and gifts on its Gifts Day. Several dignitaries attended the event including Mrs. Ann Davis, Wife of the Prime Minister, Former Speaker of the House of Assembly, the Hon. Alvin Smith, Former Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Hubert Ingraham and the Minister of Social Services and Urban Development, the Hon. Obie Wilchcombe.

Wilchcombe told the gathering, “this day cannot be observed without remembering Sir Durward Knowles. He reached deep down and decided to reach out and to help and to put his money where his mouth was and always to give. and left this earth with the legacy of being someone who cared about the people.”

Sir Durward Knowles was president of the association from 1991 until the time of his passing in 2018.
