Officers of the Bahamas Department of Corrections attended their annual church service held at Faith United Missionary Baptist Church. The service was attended by the Minister of National Security, the Hon. Wayne Munroe.
The Minister spoke to ZNS News about the government’s commitment to prison reform. “We had a assessment by the American Correctional Association which will point out to us the shortcomings we may have that we have to correct. We’re seeking to improve the professional services available to inmates and staff, psychiatric, psychological, nutrition, um services and we are geared up to build a new correctional facility that will improve the living conditions and the working conditions for the correctional officers.”
