Acting Commissioner of the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services (BDOCS), Doan Cleare revealed to ZNS News that he and the Minister of National Security, the Hon. Wayne Munroe and others will be traveling to Italy where they will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Italian government.
Cleare said, “once we sign the MOU the Italian government is saying we’re looking around March/April. What we are negotiating with them currently is to do a proper assessment of inmates. In other words why did you come here. We must find the exact cause and once we find the exact cause we then now can have that antidote to fix that cause. So that’s what we are looking forward now to help from the Italian government.”
The MOU will facilitate the training of twenty five Bahamian corrections officers.
