Chief Operating Officer of Bahamas Power and Light (BPL) addressed the issue of power reliability on the island of Harbour Island.
Toni Seymour attributed the frequent power outages on the island to contaminated fuel which resulted in engine failure. “As you may know, once there is contaminated fuel it does some damage to the engine so we have to replace injectors, change filters etc. and then you have to drain the contaminated fuel, flush it and replace it with good fuel. So that process takes a while so as BPL we apologize to the residents of Harbour Island that have experienced this repeatedly in the last two weeks. We have worked expeditiously to prevent it from happening again, firstly to resolve the original issue and then we’ve put measures in place to prevent it from happening again.”
