Chief Executive Officer of the Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) responded to criticism given by Acting Prime Minister, the Hon. Chester Cooper who lambasted local telecommunications companies for the service they provide. He especially took exception to frequent dropped calls. Mr. Cooper was addressing the Digital Transformation Forum hosted by the Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA).
BTC Chief Sameer Bhatti said, “we reached out to the Acting Prime Minister and asked for some specifics on what he referenced, even if its not our network.” He added, “he and and I are in communication and he had provided some more detail, which was all I needed at this point to commission a full drive out in the two areas that he cited. One is in Black Point and the other is in Staniel Cay.”
Bhatti said BTC likes to be fact based and know what they are solving for. “That’s the immediate action and I have followed up with the Acting Prime Minister that this is our plan of attack,” Bhatti said.
