Ookla® is the global leader in network intelligence and connectivity insights. The Speedtest Awards are an elite designation of the top performing fixed broadband and mobile operators around the world. The awards are based on extensive analysis of Speedtest data, including coverage verification from mobile users throughout The Bahamas.
“We are honored to congratulate BTC for winning the Ookla® Speedtest Award for Best Mobile Coverage for Q1-Q2 2024,” said Marc Penesso, Sales Director of Ookla®, a division of Ziff Davis. “This accolade is especially meaningful because these Speedtest results are based on consumer-initiated tests in The Bahamas, reflecting real-world user experiences. BTC’s commitment to enhancing connectivity is commendable, and our methodology ensures that your achievement is well-deserved.”
Penesso presented the official Ookla® Best Mobile Coverage award to BTC’s CEO, Sameer Bhatti, at a press conference held at the company’s Perpall Tract headquarters on December 3rd.
Bhatti said the Best Mobile Coverage designation awarded to BTC reaffirms the company’s commitment to delivering reliable and high-quality connectivity to all customers throughout The Bahamas.
Bhatti said: “We are deeply honored to receive the Speedtest Award for Best Mobile Coverage in The Bahamas. This recognition underscores our dedication to driving national transformation. Our team’s relentless efforts to expand and enhance our network ensure reliable connectivity for our customers regardless of where they live in our beautiful archipelago. This achievement solidifies our position as the leading provider in the country. We remain committed to continually improving our network and services, supporting businesses, empowering communities, and contributing to our country’s digital future. We extend our sincere gratitude to our loyal customers – this award is a testament to your trust in us.”
According to Ookla®, the Speedtest Awards are based on six months of historical data, referred to as the award period. Ookla states that by using a six-month period, a critical mass of data is collected, and reduces the likelihood that short-term fluctuations in performance will significantly influence the final analysis.
