The Cat Island Rake N’ Scrape Festival was held over the holiday weekend. Many Bahamian musicians and entertainers including Jetero ‘Jammin’ Rahming, Lavant Pratt (Blaudy), D’Vaughn Demeritte (Yogi) and Dhouhayne Finley (Stileet) took to the stage at the Rake N’ Scrape Park in Arthur’s Town, Cat Island. The Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Cat Island, Rum Cay and San Salvador, the Hon. Philip Davis was also in attendance.

President of the Rake N’ Scrape Committee Kay Chriswell spoke with ZNS News on the sidelines of the festivities about its impact locally. She said, “the economic impact I think is huge. From about March there were no hotel rooms, there were no cars for rent, airline tickets were all fully booked. We had to get extra flight put on by Western, Bahamasair, charters etc. There’s a lot of money being spent. When you leave here to go to the after parties the streets are full and they go home at 8 o’ clock in the morning. They party all night. And so everybody does very well.”
