The Global Chaplaincy Center honoured six community leaders over the weekend for their contribution to society.

Among the honourees were Bishop Walter and Minalee Hanchell of Great Commission Ministries; Police Press Liaison Officer, Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings as well as Anamae Delancy and Deidre Finlayson.

Global Chaplaincy Center President, Dr. Marie McDonald said, “they are doing the work of chaplaincy whether they know it or not and whether or not they are chaplains. As a result, Global Chaplaincy Center wishes to honour those persons for the work they have been doing.”

Skippings responded to the award saying its truly an honour to be recognized for her work in the community. She also said, “I would like to see more of my Bahamian people given the opportunity to be able to find a place within this Bahamas and make contributions.”

Minalee Hanchell spoke about the feeding ministry she heads with her husband, “the ministry started thirty six years ago and really at a time when we realized that the nation was hurting and still hurting in need of persons to be helped emergency shelter, feeding programs, all of that needs dealing with.”

This was the fourth year the awards dinner has been held.
