Commonwealth Bank is the first bank in The Bahamas and the region to implement the Apple Pay system.
Commonwealth Bank Vice President of Information Technology, Jevon McIntosh recently explained to ZNS News how i-phone users can join the program. He said, “it takes about two days basically to get a pre-paid card. There’s no approval process. You really only need to provide us with your identification, your address, telephone details and you can get a pre-paid card. It very quick. And that pre-paid card is included in the Apple Pay program.”
When making purchases you click the Apply Pay button, wait for facial recognition and double click the i-phone side button. McIntosh also assured users of the security of the program. “We are hiding your card number from merchants and other individuals who may not have your best interest at heart. So if your merchant is compromised your card, your personal details continue to be secure and private and that’s why we really want to see more customers adopt this platform. The only way that you can use it is when you yourself authenticate with your face without that you cannot use this service.”
Approximately 1200 people have already joined the program.
