Minister of National Security, the Hon. Wayne Munroe spoke about the transition progress at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services on the sidelines of the Grow Your Child launch ceremony on Thursday.
He said, “to be a correctional facility there are certain boxes you have to tick. In terms of the standard of the accommodations, in terms of the programs that can be offered because of the lack of facilities there would be difficulties in hitting that target for this facility. We did have an evaluation by the American Correctional Association. We’re moving as swift as we can to meet those standards.”
The former Her Majesty’s Prison changed to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services in 2014.
