Junkanoo officials along with officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force on the island of Grand Bahama inspected the route for the 2024 New Year’s Day Junkanoo parade.
Marketing Director for the Grand Bahama Junkanoo Management Team, Jeffrey Pinder told ZNS News, “we actually want to encourage Grand Bahamians don’t make any plans for anything else on January 1st. If you were thinking otherwise don’t do it. Grand Bahama this is our time. We’ve been through a whole lot. So your support for the resurgence of culture in Grand Bahama.”
Pinder advised those who intend to attend the parade to purchase their tickets in advance. ”If you have large families. We have sky boxes for families. These are various features to the program and if you think about one section to the program, near the Kipling Building, we’re gonna put some excitement on that route. We’re giving prizes to those paraders, all the Junkanoo paraders on that route.”
Police officers who participated in the walk through said there will be road closures prior to the parade. Officers also admonished that they will not tolerate anyone breaking the law.
