Diplomatic Week activities got underway over the weekend with a church service at Christ Church Cathedral.
During the service Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Fred Mitchell stressed the need to strengthen relationships through diplomacy. He said, “what I want to say is climate change is real whether we have a consensus on it or not, the facts do not change. We are also certain of the moral underpinnings of life on this earth that even more than ever at this time we need your prayers because it appears that international relations is becoming more transactional where power is the only fact.”
The minister asked for a special prayer to be said for the people of Haiti, Gaza and Ukraine and for those who are powerful to recognize and accept the creed they agreed to when joining the United Nations that justice and international law require peace and not war.
Diplomatic week is being held under the theme Delivering Security, Opportunity and Justice Through Diplomacy.
