Commissioner of Police, Clayton Fernander led a press conference on Tuesday where he updated the public on the progress of investigations into recent homicides in the country.
On Wednesday, March 27th, the former Member of Parliament for Tall Pines and Deputy Chairman of the Free National Movement, Don Saunders was shot and killed during a robbery at a bar in Gambier Village. Fernander told reporters, “at present we have three adult males in police custody. Two came into custody over the weekend and the third just a few hours ago.”
The Commissioner also gave details of the crime that killed Saunders who was sitting behind the business establishment with other patrons when the men attempted to rob them. “One of the culprits approached Mr. Saunders and pushed a weapon in his face and demanded cash. It was at this time, the weapon was right in his face, this according to witnesses, that his brushed the hand that the culprit was holding the weapon and it was at this time he was shot directly to the neck area.”
Fernander took the opportunity to appeal to business owners to be careful when dealing with money in the presence of the public.
