Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, the Hon. Chester Cooper provided an update on the redevelopment of the Grand Bahama International Airport on Monday.
Mr. Cooper revealed that the government must find another source of funding for the project. He said, “we executed a private public partnership some time ago for the advancement of the airport. It involved the management agreement with Manchester Airport Group that continues to be actively engaged. There were to be Bahamian contractors, we celebrated and there was to be funding provided by the group. Regrettably the funding hadn’t happened. We’re at the moment of organizing alternative funding.
The minister assured that progress is being made in sourcing funding for the project and that he will make further statements in due course.
