Minister of Education and Technical and Vocational Training, the Hon. Glenys Hanna-Martin commented on the recent brawl that took place at the Eight Mile Rock High School. The incident was caught on camera and widely circulated on social media.
Hanna-Martin spoke with reporters about the matter on Wednesday. She said, “its sounds like this is something that started in the community over the weekend and found its way onto the school campus which tells you the dynamics of what we’re seeing in these incidents. It’s very unfortunate but I see it as an opportunity now to see what is it that we have to do. We have analyzed a number of things that have been illustrated in this incident and as a result of that a number of strategies are being developed as we speak today which will be deployed immediately which we think will allow us to address some of the challenges that was highlighted in this particular incident.”
The incident that took place on Monday has left the school’s police resource officer, who tried to stop the fight, with a broken arm.
