Mourners gathered at the Golden Gates World Outreach Ministries on Tuesday for the double funeral of cousins Ricardo Rolle and Chareeve King. The two men were shot and killed on December 13th, 2023 in Yellow Elder Gardens.
The service was officiated by Senior Pastor, Bishop Trent Davis who spoke with ZNS News. He said, “when people are murdered its an entire community that suffers. And so we want to bring the hope of Jesus Christ, not only to this family, but to the Yellow Elder community and to our country by extension.”
Davis added, “when families lose loved ones it doesn’t end on that day. There has to be a clean up process, a healing process, and there are people connected to each murder. And so my job today is to give hope to this family that things can get better. To give hope to the children that are left over for them to know that there are people that do care.”
The Bishop also gave his take on the crime plan revealed by Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis on Sunday. “My view is that the plan that they have put forward is a comprehensive one and I feel that if we all gather and get behind it. For me, I really want us to focus on the prevention of crime and then if people, there is a criminal element we must also strengthen. Part of the plan is rehabilitation because we are all God’s children.”
