Two men were shot at The Players Club on Arawak Cay on Easter Monday. One of the men died while there other was injured.
Police Press Liaison Officer, Chief Superintendent Sheria King was at the scene of the incident. She told reporters police at the Arawak Cay Police Station responded after hearing gunshots shortly before 11:00 pm. King said, “the victim was in an altercation with another male, that male produced a firearm and discharged gunshots in the direction of the victims.”
The Chief Superintendent added, “the second victim was shot to the upper body where he was transported to the hospital and is presently in stable condition.”
Arawak Cay Conch, Fish, Vegetables and Food Vendors Association President, Rodney Russell told reporters on Tuesday that he had written the establishment where the incident happened about noise and vulgarity. He said, “I received a document from them saying it’s not them. Now today, I stand before this place where a young man has lost his life. It’s deplorable.”
According to Russell Arawak Cay is a safe place to visit. However, he opined that when the country fails to enforce the laws citizens take that law into their own hands which is not good for sustainable growth and development.
The Association plans to meet with the proprietors of The Players Club.
