The Leader of the Free National Movement (FNM) and Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Michael Pintard held a press event on Monday at FNM Headquarters to respond to the national address on crime given by Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis on Sunday.
Pintard told reporters, “the Prime Minister missed an opportunity to allay the fears that Bahamians and other who reside in The Bahamas have that they have a sense of what is wrong and a strategic plan on how to address it.”
In his presentation, Davis announced his government’s three pronged approach to fighting crime called the clear, hold and build approach. Pintard lambasted the idea saying, “having failed to provide answers his team sought to lift the most convenient set of strategies they could find online and cast it as something that they have been vigilantly working on for quite sometime.”
The Opposition Leader added, “we are deeply concerned that what the Prime Minister projects as going to be inconvenience may very well be an overreach into any number of people’s lives. They’re already doing it to many of of us, so we don’t expect very much from them.”
Pintard also said the FNM will host the government’s feet to the fire and challenge them at every turn where they are making poor decisions.
