Former Cabinet Minister and former Member of Parliament for Seabreeze, Lanisha Rolle was arraigned in the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Rolle, 46, also known as Tamara Tamar Sylvia Rolle appeared before Magistrate Kendrick Kelley along with her husband Vontenken Rolle and three others. The former youth, sports and culture minister was charged with bribery and conspiracy to commit fraud by false pretenses in relation to contracts awarded during her tenure at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture valued at almost $800,000.
Rolle was not required to enter a plea and was granted bail at $150,000 with one or two sureties. She is also required to sign in at the western police station once per month.
In February of 2021 Rolle resigned her post as Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture after then Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis ordered of lockdown of that ministry. A subsequent audit revealed poor practices, inadequate controls and the awarding of a contract without cabinet approval.
Rolle, her husband and the others accused are expected to return to court on May 31st, 2023.
