FTX Digital Markets today announced a $1.1 million donation to the newly-created Agricultural Development Committee, a non-profit NGO created to support agricultural initiatives to address food security throughout The Bahamas. The announcement was made January 13, 2022 at Veridian Plaza. Parliamentary Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Marine Resources and Family Island Affairs Leonardo Lightbourne affirmed the support of the Ministry and thanked FTX for their contribution to food sustainability, which is of primary importance to the government. The funding, he said, also assists the Ministry in making agriculture more innovative and attractive to the younger generation.
CEO of FTX Ryan Salame communicated his excitement for the project. Mr. Philip Smith has been appointed executive chairman of the committee. Mr. Smith has worked a number of years to eradicate hunger in the community through the Bahamas Feeding Network, where he previously served as executive director.
