Officer In Charge of the Northern Bahamas, Assistant Commissioner of Police Bernard K. Bonamy held a press conference at the Gerald Bartlett Complex in Grand Bahama on Monday.

Police on the island confiscated nine pistols, three assault rifles and ammunition in a raid.

During the event Assistant Commissioner Bonamy sent a stern message saying, “firearms are illegal and we will continue to execute warrants on any residents we have information on that we believe illegal firearms are there.”

Bonamy also appealed to members of the public.  He said, “if you know the someone, your neighbours, friends or relatives are in possession of illegal firearms we want you to call the police.”  Pointing to the weapons on display at the press conference Bonamy said that they have one purpose “to kill or cause harm.”

Three Florida men were arrested in connection with the weapons and are expected to brought before the courts.
