Former parliamentarian, D. Shane Gibson has called for a secret ballot to be taken that the Progressive Liberal Party’s (PLP) National General Council meeting to determine who will be the party’s candidate in the upcoming by-election for West Grand Bahama and Bimini.

In a letter addressed to the PLP Secretary General, Gibson wrote, “I am writing to request that at tomorrow’s meeting of the National General Council, the selection of the candidate of the PLP for the West Grand Bahama and Bimini by-election, be conducted in accordance with Article 10.4.7 of the Party’s Constitution which requires the National General Council to ‘be allowed to vote by secret ballot on the approval of candidates.'”

Gibson is vying to become the candidate along with several others including Chief Passport Officer Kingsley Smith.
