Golden Gates Native Baptist Church Celebrates 50 Years of Faith, Family & Fellowship On April 27, 2025, Golden Gates Native Baptist Church (GGNBC) will mark a monumental milestone—50 years of unwavering faith, family, and fellowship. Founded on April 19, 1975, with a vision to be a beacon of hope, the church has lived up to its mission, becoming a place of refuge for all who seek spiritual guidance and support.
Over the decades, GGNBC has been more than just a church; it has been a powerful force for transformation within the community. Through dynamic youth and after-school programs, vibrant choirs, inspiring drama productions, and consistently excelling in sports across denominations, the church has touched countless lives and shaped generations in the country. Its rich legacy includes civic and religious leaders who have shaped both local and international communities.
The church’s growth and success are a direct result of the vision and leadership of its founding pastors, Rev. Dr. Alonzo Hinsey and Rev. Mother Jessie Hinsey, along with the 29 founding members. These tireless leaders laid the foundation for the church’s enduring legacy of love, service, and excellence. Dr. Hinsey and Mother Hinsey served as the senior leaders for forty-three (43) years until they retired in April 2018. The church nominated and selected one of the founding members as their new pastor. In July 2018, Rev Alonzo Hinsey, Jr. was installed as the new pastor and has courageously embraced his new assignment along with his wife, Dr. Monique Hinsey, building on the foundation of faith, family, and fellowship.
A calendar of events has been planned for 2025 to mark the significance of the jubilant year. On Saturday March 22nd, the Church hosted a “Legacy Family Fun, Run, Walk” under the patronage of our Founding Pastors, Rev Dr. Alonzo and Rev Jessie Hinsey. The event was hosted to create an exercise-driven, family-friendly, and fun-filled initiative for families, friends, and community members of the Church while allowing them to receive medical, ear, eye, and dental screenings.
On Friday, April 4, 2025, GGNBC held its Beacon Awards Ceremony to recognize and honor individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and leadership over the years. The Beacon Awards highlighted individuals, including past and present members, community friends, and partners, who have set the standard for service excellence, whether through leadership, financial support, or time and talent. These awardees have helped shape the church into the beacon of light it is today, and their dedication continues to inspire future generations of church members.
As GGNBC celebrates its rich history, it also looks toward the future with renewed hope and purpose. The church is inviting all family and friends whose roots are in Golden Gates Native Baptist Church to join in the year-long celebration. Events include the two-night revival services on Wednesday, April 23 and Thursday, April 24 at 7:00 pm, as well as the Grand 50th Jubilee Celebration on Sunday, April 27 at 3:00 pm at the sanctuary in Golden Gates #1 and #3 Lobster Ave.
