Member of Parliament for West Grand Bahama and Bimini, the Hon. Kingsley Smith recently accompanied Bahamas Trade Commission Chairman, Senator Barry Griffin to the Africa Caribbean Trade Expo in Ghana.
Smith shared how the mission will benefits Bahamians on Wednesday. He said, “Africa is a big market with a lot of potential. And so what we were seeking to do along with the association that put on the trade in Ghana is how do we connect both countries directly from Ghana straight into The Bahamas. And so these the type of activities that we’re seeking to accomplish in Ghana. They’re on products, cocoa and lumber etc., cement. So these are the type of opportunities that we could see.”
The Member of Parliament encouraged Bahamians to seize available opportunities. “What is happening now with the association is they already have routes but it’s not as frequent. And so they’re trying to find ways to increase transshipment also air traffic cargo into The Bahamas. So I was made aware that there is a shipment of good coming here, so Bahamian entrepreneurs, business owners who have businesses and want to tap into that market, some people are already taking advantage of it
