In a major effort to steadily enhance the efficiency and professionalism of the Bahamian public service, the Ministry of Public Service has launched a comprehensive training initiative designed to equip newly appointed public officers with the critical knowledge and skills needed for success in their roles.
The training arm of the Ministry of the Public Service (PSCHRD) engaged 61 participants in a one-day seminar. A key part of the training focused on simplifying the General Orders — the main document guiding public officers in The Bahamas — to help new officers better understand and apply its rules in their daily work.
As promised, the seminar featured energetic presenters who shared valuable tips while highlighting the role and structure of the public service. The engaging sessions offered effective strategies on customer service excellence and financial literacy, empowering participants to elevate their knowledge and take their skills to the next level.
The evening sessions provided valuable information and a chance for participants to register for additional training opportunities offered by four leading tertiary institutions. Attendees also received pamphlets and had the opportunity to win prizes.
These sessions are part of ongoing in-house training programs tailored to the unique needs of different ministries and departments. The monthly seminars are designed to complement existing training plans, ensuring a unified approach to professional development across the public sector via in-person training, hybrid and online.
This training program is part of the government’s efforts to improve public service and maintain ethical standards. By focusing on workforce development, the Bahamian government shows its commitment to building a skilled and responsive public service that serves its citizens well.
Signup for training sessions is available on the Ministry of Labour and the Public Service Northern Region’s website.
