An eighteen year old man lost his life on Monday in the first traffic accident for the year on the island of Grand Bahama.
Officer In Charge of Traffic, Superintendent Christopher Farquharson was on the scene where he provided details of the incident. He said, “the motorbike was heading west out of the corner of Seagrape and it entered the main road of Queen’s Highway before ascertaining the way clear and a collision occurred.”
The victim has been identified as Garcio George Ferguson. His sister, Shanice Martin shared her disbelief. She said, “when the person said what happened I told him immediately go back and check again because it’s like he was telling me something I didn’t want to believe. And when he came back and he confirmed the second thing was I have to tell my mother this.”
According to Martin her brother was mannerly, smart and outgoing. “He was basically a go to in our family too, anything you needed just call George. That was just him, he was always helpful,” she said.
Martin appealed to motorists to slow down especially in the community of Eight Mile Rock. Police also advised caution while driving and for motorcyclists to wear helmets.
