The newly crowned 2025 Junior Minister of Tourism, Xaria Ingraham, received a warm welcome upon her return to Grand Bahama on Thursday. Greeted at the domestic terminal of the Grand Bahama International Airport, Ingraham was celebrated by officials from the Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, alongside her family, friends, and well-wishers.
Ingraham, an 11th-grade student of Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Academy, triumphed over contestants from 13 schools across The Bahamas to secure the prestigious national title. Reflecting on her victory, she described the experience as both challenging and rewarding, noting the pressure she faced but ultimately overcame. She expressed gratitude to her coach, school, parents, and everyone who supported her throughout the journey.
The new Junior Minister shared her excitement about the opportunities ahead, particularly her upcoming role in the Caribbean Tourism Organization Youth Congress. She emphasized her eagerness to write more speeches, engage deeply with the tourism product, and contribute innovative ideas to the industry’s growth.
“What excites me the most is the potential for development in tourism, not just for me but for the country,” said Ingraham. “We have so much room for growth, and I’m full of ideas I hope to implement for the betterment of our community and nation.”
As Junior Minister, Ingraham will join the national and regional executive teams and help bridge the gap between government and youth in The Bahamas’ leading industry. Her role includes representing the country both locally and internationally.
Karenda Swain-Rolle, Manager of the Guest Services and Training Department, expressed pride in Ingraham’s achievement. She commended the close collaboration between the Grand Bahama office and participating schools, offering special recognition to Gina Turner for her dedication in mentoring students. Swain-Rolle wished Ingraham success and confidence in her ability to represent The Bahamas with excellence on the global stage.
