Free National Movement (FNM) Leader and Member of Parliament for Marco City, Michael Pintard was ratified for re-election by the party’s council on Wednesday evening at FNM headquarters in New Providence.
All major political parties have now identified their candidate for the area. Contesting the seat along with Pintard are Eddie Whan, the standard bearer for the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) and Jillian Bartlett representing the Coalition of Independents (COI).
While speaking with ZNS News Whan expressed confidence in his victory in the upcoming elections. He said, “I know I’m gonna win. I’ve stopped the if, if, if and I’m when, when, when because I know who I am. I know what I’m about. I know what I bring to the table. I know what I’m going to do.”
Following his ratification Pintard was met at the Grand Bahama Airport by a group of excited supporters on Thursday. He said, “it has been my honour to stand with all of the residents of Grand Bahama. I saw us rally after Matthew. We rallied after Dorian. We rallied through COVID and Grand Bahama is strong because we know how to work across the political divide.”
For her part the COI’s Jillian Bartlett shared the view that Marco City residents are ready for change. “I speak with individuals in Marco City, I’m actually calling it Grand Marco City, they are telling me, not me, that they want something different.”
Bartlett’s message to constituents is if Coalition Of Independents is given one chance they can make a bigger difference than they’ll ever see under any of the other political parties.
Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis has said that the general election will happen soon.
