Minister of Health and Wellness, the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville revealed that as of January 10th ten cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed on the island of Grand Bahama.
Darville was in Grand Bahama at the Rand Memorial Hospital recently where he told ZNS News the health team in on high alert. Darville also said, “the Public Hospitals Authority have had decisions with our staff to increase out surveillance while at the same time make sure all the necessary personal protective equipment is on the island so that we can protect our staff and our clients who come to the Rand Memorial Hospital.”
The Minister advised that safety protocols are in place and that person who are feeling ill should be tested. ’I believe that putting on a mask at that time for protect your family and to protect others in close proximity is an excellent idea.”
While mask mandates are in place for hospitals and clinics the Minister said that lockdowns are not being considered.
