Minister of Transport and Energy, the Hon. Jobeth Coleby-Davis responded to questions about the arrears at Bahamas Power and Light (BPL) in the House Of Assembly on Wednesday.
The questions were asked by Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Michael Pintard who said, “will the honourable minister provide this honourable house with the breakdown of BPL’s $150 million dollars arrears.”
Coleby-Davis answered by saying, “with all due respect I must admit my confusion regarding the $150 million in arrears inquiry posed by the honourable member. I’m uncertain whether the question pertains to liabilities owed by Bahamas Power and Light or to monies that are due to BPL. To provide a precise and informed response I kindly request further clarity at a later date from the honourable member regarding the specifics of their query.”
Pintard responded to the Minister’s statement by saying, “we are relying, Madam Speaker, on the government’s own pronouncements in the media about the arrears of $150 million. So its not clarification from me but the government itself can speak to its earlier revelations and admissions about $150 million dollar arrears.”
