The Department of Social Services Disability Affairs Division hosted an event over the weekend for Disability Love Day bringing an end to Disability Awareness Week.
Chairman of Disability Awareness Week Committee, Kendrick Rolle said, “we want to always highlight our person with disabilities, their capabilities and also advocate for more inclusion in all sectors of society for persons with disabilities as we move towards the elimination of discrimination against persons with disabilities.”
Wife of the Prime Minister, Mrs. Ann Marie Davis attended the event. She spoke with ZNS News on the sidelines saying, “I wanted to come here today, I made sure I attended this concert/fair for the several departments of the disabled whether its the blind or the autistic or the deaf and so on because this is Christmas time. I know we want to bring more awareness of all the different sectors of disabilities we have here in The Bahamas. And we want people to recognize that they too are people and need to be loved and happy.”
