Minister of Health and Wellness, the Hon. Michael Darville toured clinics on the island of Andros and announced plans to build three new facilities on the island. The new facilities are planned for Fresh Creek, Mastic Point and Nicholl’s Town. The minister was accompanied by officials of the Inter American Development Bank [IDB].

Minister Darville said, “we’ve assessed the present structures. There is some structural problems that we believe that it does not make sense to pump unnecessary resources in clinics with these serious structural issues. And so, we intend to build two possibly three clinics here, two via the IDB and one via the government. Its all a part of improving the quality of healthcare services and keeping people out of hospital.”

The Member of Parliament for Central and South Andros, the Hon. Leon Lundy was also a part of the touring delegation this past Friday. He told ZNS News, “its good for the staff to know that they’re going to get some facilities that they could give the services that they’re so used to giving and be comfortable doing it. And especially for the islanders they welcome any changes that can be made to upgrade their lives.”
