The Department of Labour held a job fair on the island of Grand Bahama as part of its Labour On The Blocks initiative. Director of Labour, Robert Farquharson gave an update on the results of the event.

“We had six hundred and ninety two persons that were registered for Labour On The Blocks. After we would have canvassed the employers, we had five hundred and fifty one [551] job offers.”

Over three hundred Grand Bahama residents and thirty businesses participated in the events. Some of the businesses included Pelican Bay, Club Fortuna, Disney Cruises and the Grand Bahama Shipyard.

Farquharson also says the Beautiful Grand Bahama program is “definitely having an impact, we’re still waiting on the numbers to identify exact what the impact is. But we have had scores and scores of young persons would have benefitted directly and indirectly from that program.”
