The Ministry of Tourism, Investment and Aviation has launched a campaign focused on protecting and preserving oceans under the theme ‘Our Ocean, Our Future’.
Director General of Tourism, Latia Duncombe spoke to ZNS News on about the initiative. She said, “it was a showcase of a lot of the conservation efforts that we’re doing nationally with a number of the NGOs. The Bahamas is beautiful sun, sand and sea but what we did, we dove a little deeper and we started to look at how we’re protecting the mangroves and how we’re preserving the corals and the work in that space. How we protect the sharks and how The Bahamas has the world’s largest sea grass meadow because we’ve protected the sharks. During this time, we’ve also hosted a competition and I’m sharing that because from a sustainability perspective, from a conservation perspective, many persons want to visit destinations that think about conservation.”
